Our trip to the Beach

We took Daniel and Tori to the beach on Saturday. It was Tori's first time ever at a beach and she loved it. Our kids are fishes.

I lost the good fight

I had a New Years Resolution. I was going to lose 26 lbs by my birthday. My birthday was July 10th.Well I lost the good fight. I must say I didn't really try too hard. Part of it was that my time is not my own...and yet it seems like a scapegoat to use my kids as the excuse. I have lost thirteen though. I ballooned up to 147 and now I am down to 134. I have about 19 lbs left to go but at least I am loosing it healthily. Like that is a word...but it makes my point. (sigh)I miss being skinny. She is my hero.

I wanna look like this...Like it is gonna happen!

My Best Friend

I can't believe it! I found a friend of mine who I haven't talked to since I was 12. Her name is Patricia...well she got married and now she goes by "Trish." She is living in Port Alberni and is training at a lawyers office to be a legal secretary....I think. I still haven't processed it all yet. Let me tell you about our relationship. When I was going through some really tough times with my familylife she was my best friend. I practically lived at her house. Sometimes it was easier to be there than at my house. But I loved it. Trish lived in a log house surrounded by forest and we would go exploring and it never failed, we would come back soaked to the skin because we were crossing little streams or we found some smooth rock formations that looked like waterslides and they were sooooo tempting. We would walk on train tracks and sometimes take picnics with us. When we were stuck inside, we would play the board game "Hotels", and some old school computer games. They were my second family. Lately, little things had begun to remind me of her. First, I found my half of a best friends necklace that I had given her for her birthday. That was like 16 years ago!!!! What the Heck! Out of the blue here it comes. So everytime I get something out of my jewellery box I see it and it takes me back. Second, The Phantom of the Opera. I remember when we were obsessed with it. I got her the score for the piano and she tried to teach me how to play....to no avail. But when the movie came out...emotions flowed. Now once again I am thoroughly engrossed with the play in a new generation. But I still own the original London Cast with Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman. I love it!

Then we moved from Port Alberni to Victoria and I never saw her again.

More than once I had thought about her and wondered how she was doing. I guess I was scared. Maybe she didn't want to hear from me...who knew? So I never pursued it.
Well this last week I was looking through some old pictures and found her. On the back it said,"Best Friends Forever A.E.A.E.A.E.A.E.A.E.A.E.A.E.A.E.A.E.A.E" Thats right. Man we were corny but it meant everything to me, and to be honest it means everything to me now.
I did all of the moving so I figured I should look her up. So with all the info on the Net I was able to track down her mum and we had a great chat. They sent me some pics and a few I am posting at the end of this Post. I am hoping to make a trip and see them while I am in Canada this August. I will have to put those pictures on here too. I am so excited to be in contact with her. I hope that we are able to be BFF A.E.A.E.A.E.A.E.

Tori Turns 1!!!!!

Happy Birthday Tori!
Tori turned 1 on July 15th. We didn't do a ton because 1...we have no money and 2...she isn't going to remember something extravagant. So we made her her own little cake and let her go to town on it. It was pretty cute. Here are a couple of pics. I can't believe that she is one already. Here comes an old people phrase..."Where has the time gone?"

Man those pics are blurry...don't try to adjust your screen.

Old Fart Moment

I am old. I was checking out my old high school and noticed that they are having a ten year reunion. WOW! Where did the time go and man have I done a lot of things.
1. Got Married(Eight and a half years...and still frisky!)
2. I have two kids.
3. Lived in Israel for a year.
4. Lived in the States for nine.
5. Travelled to London, Germany, Bucharest, Cyprus, Barcelona, Egypt and Israel.
6. Done some missions training.
7. Learned another language.
8. Planned and coordinated eight weddings...not including my own and I am working on #9!
9. Finished a cake decorating class
10. Received a Green Card and started the process for citizenship.

Those seem like big things to me. Does everybody do that much stuff? Maybe that is normal and I am making a big deal out of it but, coming from an island where nothing really happens it seems like a lot. Anyway, so my reunion is on August 18th through the 20th and I am so upset because I am going to Victoria on the 22nd! AAAHHHHHHHH! I can't believe that I am arriving two days later. I am super bummed but, what can you do? Hopefully I will be able to still get in touch with a few people and see them while I am there. So that is that. I feel old. I totally had an out-of-touch-with-this-generation moment. That sucks. It is all down hill from here. I will have to start saying things like"Back when I was in school..." and "Those young kids don't understand discipline and diligence."
(sigh) I so don't miss high school.

Blogging Bulimia

Okay...I know I haven't posted in awhile. I am sure the oh-so-many fans are ready to start a mob to come and find me but, I just don't have the time. It isn't at the bottom of my priority list but it isn't the top. Plus, I don't have a very exciting life. Blogging Bulimia is what I have. I just binge for a long time on info I can blog about but instead of doing it little by little, it all comes out in one long night of spewing(is that a word?). Anyway brace yourselves folks, I got stuff to post about. Like it is that big of a deal.

Daniel learning guitar...

Just a quick post of Daniel learning to play guitar. Ryan is teaching him how to play each string separately and then together. He was so excited I had to take a picture. I love him so much. I am super proud of him.

Super Gross

Okay I don't know if everyone is able to grasp at how large this spider is but it was massively huge. I was in the shower and my niece knocks on the door and tells me there is a tarantula in my living room. Now I know my niece is scared of spiders and so I figured that it was a little black fuzzy thing. OOOOHHHHH NOOOOOOOO! It was so not little. I totally freaked me out to where I wasn't sure how todeal with it. So after climbing over my couch and walking as far away from it as I possibly could, I grabbed my desk trash can and just dumped whatever was in it on the floor. I have goosebumps just typing about it! Then as I put the can over it....I crouched down with it's body right on the floor like it was ready to pounce. Totally gross! I had to call the maintenance guy for our apartment complex and have him come and kill it. He brought this big like 2x4 and smashed it dead! Yeah Ray!!!! After he left though, I thought I was going to gag because on the wall behind the spider was all of it's guts and stuff. My gag reflex was kicking in hardcore and I thought I was going to barf everywhere but then I knew I would have to clean that too so I controlled myself.Anyway, I hope everyone can appreciate my little drama. It scared the snot outta me!
